Step 1: See if you're eligible
To be eligible to apply for a license donation from the Salesforce.com Foundation, your organization must be recognized as a charitable, nonprofit, or nongovernmental organization in the country where you are located. Read our Master Subscription Agreement to learn more.
Eligible U.S. & Canadian organizations
501c3 organizations
Organizations that have received the 501c3 designation from the IRS are eligible to submit an application for our product donation program. Please see a list of ineligible 501c3 organizations at the bottom of the page.
Proof of status: Nonprofits will need to provide a copy of their 501c3 IRS determination letter during the application process.
Higher education institutions
Private nonprofit and public higher education institutions qualify for our product donation and discount programs. We donate 10 non-transferrable licenses per school. Any additional licenses can be purchased on the same or different accounts at our deeply discounted rates.
Proof of status: Higher education institutions will need to provide a link to their registration on www.nces.ed.gov during the application process.
K–12 schools
K–12 schools are eligible to apply for our product donation program and discount programs. We donate one set of non-transferrable licenses per school. Any additional licenses can be purchased at our deeply discounted rates.School districts that do not qualify for the product donation program and will be routed to the Salesforce.com public sector team to purchase licenses.
Proof of status: Schools will need to provide a link to their registration on www.nces.ed.gov during the application process.
Fiscally sponsored organizations
Fiscal sponsorship is a financial and legal system by which a legally recognized 501c3 public charity provides limited financial and legal oversight for an organization that does not have its own 501c3 status. Once sponsored in this way, the organization is eligible to receive donated licenses normally available only to 501c3 organizations.
Organizations that are fiscally sponsored by an organization that holds a 501c3 designation and meets all of the eligibility criteria as defined in our Master Subscription Agreement may qualify for the license donation program.
Proof of status: Fiscally sponsored organizations will need to submit 1) their fiscal sponsor’s 501c3 IRS determination letter and 2) a signed letter from their fiscal sponsor indicating the relationship between the entities and that the fiscal sponsor is willing to accept the donation on behalf of the other organization during the application process.
Religious organizations
Religious organizations that have a 501c3 tax-exempt status from the IRS must submit their 501c3 IRS determination letter during the application process. Churches that meet the requirements of the IRS and are considered tax exempt but do not have a 501c3 may be eligible based on the IRS Tax Guide for Churches and Religious Organizations.
Proof of status: Organizations must submit their EIN number during the application process and be registered on GuideStar.
Canadian charities
We accept applications from organizations that are registered with the Canadian Revenue Agency as charities.
Proof of status: Charitable organizations will need to submit their charity registration given by the Canadian Revenue Agency.
Ineligible organizations
Non-501c3 nonprofit organizations
Organizations that do not have a 501c3 designation, but rather a c4, c6 or other nonprofit status are not eligible to apply for our product donation program.
In addition, organizations that possess multiple IRS designations (i.e., a 501c3 and 501c6 status) but whose primary use of Salesforce.com products would not be for the 501c3 entity are not eligible to apply for our product donation program and should visit salesforce.com for information about purchasing licenses.
Healthcare organizations providing patient care
Hospitals and Healthcare organizations providing patient care are ineligible for the product donation program. Free clinics may qualify.

School districts
Currently, school districts do not qualify for the product donation program and are encouraged to work with salesforce.com's public sector team.
Please note: Individual schools are welcome to apply if they meet the above requirements.
Europe, Middle East, Africa, Latin and Central America, Asia Pacific and Japan
Eligibility requirements
Organizations that meet the following criteria may apply through the 5-Step application process:
- Your primary purpose is charitable, educational, and/or a social benefiting organization
- Your primary purpose is non-political. (No more than 20% of your total annual expenditures may be spent on lobbying or other political activities, and the Limited Free Service may not be used to support any such activities.)
- You are not primarily a trade or sector association. (Trade or sector associations serving exclusively charitable, nonprofit organizations may be eligible.)
- You do not invidiously discriminate on the basis of race, ethnic or national origin, religious affiliation, gender, sexual orientation, age, disability, physical appearance, language, educational background or veteran status.
- Your primary purpose is not the promotion of an athletic team, event, tournament or competition, except as a fundraising activity for charitable purposes.
- Your primary purpose is not the promotion of conferences or seminars, unless such conferences or seminars promote nonprofit efficacy and/or charitable activities.
- You are not an individual.
Please note: The eligibility criteria can differ from country to country.
Examples of organization types accepted
We will consider applications from (but not exclusive to) the following types of organizations:
- Charity
- Nonprofit organization
- Social Enterprise
- Higher Education institution
- Foundation
- Civil Association
Check to see if your country is part of the donation program
The program is open to the majority of countries with some exceptions.
The donation program is not available in:
- Cuba
- Syria
- Iran
- Sudan
- North Korea
The donation program is not available in the following but deep discounts are available in:
- Spain*
- Denmark*
* These organisations must first meet our eligibility requirements, and be registered for Sales Tax in order to qualify for a substantial discount only.
